New Faces at Silver Spring

18/09/2009 09:00:00

As a result of the change of ownership announced yesterday, there will be some changes in the management structure and style at Silver Spring Soft Drinks Limited and the first of these are two new directors that we welcome on board.

Jonathan Halford is the new Chairman of Silver Spring. Jonathan’s experience as a director and chairman of several substantial businesses will bring a lot to our turnaround of Silver Spring. He has driven the turnaround of Forest Garden, a supplier of garden timber products to retailers like B&Q and Homebase. He is also a director of Aqualisa, the Kent based shower supplier, and of Nightfreight, the haulage business. In the case of Forest and Aqualisa, clearly these business have UK manufacturing and sell to large UK retailers, which are very relevant experience for what we’re looking to achieve at Silver Spring. Jonathan will be at Silver Spring a couple of days each week initially, then one day a week thereafter.

Steve Keating runs Privet Capital, the new owners of Silver Spring. Steve has many years’ experience investing in UK businesses, with 3i as well as Privet, and before that had a successful career at Deloitte. Steve brings an enormous amount of experience, particularly with investment and financing of businesses, and we are confident that Silver Spring will benefit enormously from his and Privet’s involvement in our future.

In addition, we have also this week welcomed Gary West to the Silver Spring team on an interim basis. Gary is former Trading Director of Wickes DIY, and former strategy director of Travis Perkins, among other senior commercial and buying roles. Gary brings a wealth of very relevant ideas and energy to support the work that the procurement team have begun to develop a central strategic purchasing function at Silver Spring.
